PE - Balancing and Rolling

In PE this morning we worked together to create some different balances.

First we worked with a partner and worked on balancing whilst supporting each other.

Then we made a balance on our own and shared these with our partner.

The final part of our lesson focussed around rolls.  We all had a practise at a pencil roll.  We had to remember to keep our arms and legs really straight.

To finish, some of us tried out teddy bear rolls and forward rolls.  We are going to work more on these next time.

E-Safety

In Computing this afternoon, we talked about keeping safe when using computers, tablets and ipads.

Here are some of the things we discussed:

Rico said - "Don't ever tell anyone your name and address online."

Amelie said - "Always tell a teacher if something comes up on the screen and you don't know what it is."

Hakim said - "If a pop-up appears, always click on the cross straight away."

Ammar said - "Never download anything unless an adult has said it is ok."

Aiden said - "only go on the programs that a teacher tells you to."

After our discussion we thought about the people we could trust.  We made a poster to show who we would ask if we thought something on a computer was unsafe.

Here are some of our finished posters.

Number bonds to 5

We had another fantastic Maths lesson this morning.  We thought about the number 5 again and tried to remember as many number sentences as we could that total 5.

Then we completed some more difficult sentences using the number 5.

Eshal and her group had items in a shop.  They had 5p to spend and had to work out how much money they would have left once they had bought different items.  They did some very complicated subtraction sentences.

Jon's group used cubes to help them solve number these number problems.

Ayesha's group worked very hard on their whiteboards to solve some tricky number problems based around the number 5.

Well done to everyone for working so hard today!

Spelling Stars!

Miss Bowkett and Miss Roberts would like to say a very big 'Well Done' to:

  • Hakim
  • Daniel
  • Lilly-Mae
  • Umar
  • Amelie
  • Jamie
  • Fatima
  • Rico
  • Eshal
These children got all of their spellings right today.

Music

In Music today we worked on keeping a steady rhythm.  We practised clapping in 4/4 time and talked about how this is the rhythm that most songs are based around. We sang 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and clapped the 4/4 time rhythm as we sang.

Then we used instruments and practised beating out this rhythm.

Making 5

In Maths this week we have been finding different ways to make 5.

We used cubes and built towers of 5.

Jon showed us how 2+3=5

Then he showed us that 4+1=5

Daniel showed us that 5+0=5

Some children had a role play shop.  They had to see which items they could buy to total 5p.

Here is some of our fantastic work.

More Beebots

Today in Computing we reminded ourselves how to use the Beebots.

We worked in groups to design our own maps for the Beebots to follow.  Then we programmed the Beebots to finish at the correct place.  This was harder than it looked!  Sometimes our Beebots went too far and fell off the map!
