This week in Maths we have been learning about Time and Money. We started the week by reminding ourselves of the different coins and their values. Then we had a role play shop and had to sort out the correct amount of money to buy different items.

In our Topic work we have been learning about the seaside. Today we used an atlas to look up different seaside destinations within the UK. We spotted that beaches are always next to the sea on the coast. We were able to name some popular UK holiday destinations and could label them on our own maps.

Over the last two weeks we have been working very hard in our Maths lessons to represent our number sentences in different ways. Last week we focused on solving two-step problems. We then recorded these using tens frames, as bar models and as 'alien heads'. This week we have been looking at the mathematical symbols and we have been moving our sentences around so that they symbols come in different places.

We had a lovely afternoon yesterday. As an introduction to our topic work about the seaside, our teachers turned the hall into a beach! We played in the sand, watched a Punch and Judy show, tried on beach clothes, wrote postcards and ate ice-cream! We are very excited to learn more about the beach over the next few weeks.
