PE

In PE today we reminded ourselves of how to roll which we we worked very hard on last week.

 The we learned about rocking.  We had to make our body into a tiny shape and keep our knees pulled in tight then rock backwards and forwards on our backs.

Finally, Mr Simmons taught us how to do a safe forwards roll.

Place Value in Maths

In Maths this week we have been learning about the value of numbers.  We are now becoming very good at describing numbers in terms of how many tens they contain and how many 'lonely' ones.

On Wednesday we used cubes to show how different numbers look.

Today we looked at different ways to represent numbers.  We used a line of beads to show different numbers.

Christmas decorations

This afternoon we worked very hard to make some beautiful decorations to decorate  our school at Christmas time.

We worked with a partner to make some Christmas trees.  We had to measure each strip of our tree very carefully and cut it neatly.  then we cut out the star for the top and finally we decorated the tree with sparkly sequins.

After that we made some snowflakes to hang around school.  We had to fold our paper neatly and then very carefully cut tiny shapes from the edges, being careful not to cut the snowflake in half.

We are looking forward to seeing our decorations displayed around school next week.

Jam Sandwiches

In English this week we have been learning about instruction writing.  We have been looking at instructions to make a jam sandwich.  We talked about words that show time (First, Then, Next) and then we learned about imperative (bossy) verbs, which tell us what to do.

We read some different instructions and identified what was wrong with them.  We realised how important it is to give clear instructions, in the correct order.

Finally we followed the correct instructions to make our own jam sandwiches.

First we spread butter onto one side of both slices of bread.

Then we spread jam onto one piece of buttered bread.

Next we put our bread together so that the jam was in the middle.

After that we cut our sandwich in half with a knife.

Finally we ate our sandwiches.

They got a thumbs up from everyone!

Autumn Walk

We went for a walk around school looking for signs of Autumn.

We saw lots of trees that had lost their leaves.  We also saw some leaves that had changed colour. We also talked about the temperature and we knew that we had to wrap up warm in our coats as the weather is getting colder.
