Local area walk

As part of our Geography lessons this half term, we have been learning about Yardley, our local area. On Wednesday 21st October we went for a walk from school to St Edburgha's Church.  In order to get there, we had to follow the route on the map.

We were very good at finding where we were on our maps.  We were also able to decide whether we had to turn left or right.

We had to cross some very busy roads, but we were very sensible and stayed in our groups and waited for an adult to tell us it was safe.

Finally we could see the park!  Through the park, behind the trees, we caught sight of St Edburgha's Church.  It looked very beautiful with all of the autumn leaves around.

We enjoyed walking through the park.  It was a shame we didn't have time to stop and play but we all know the way to the park so we are going to tell our parents about it.

St Edburgha's Church and the surrounding buildings were beautiful.  We enjoyed spending some time looking at them.

We decided that this was the perfect place in Yardely for Miss Bowkett to get married!

Can anyone remember what Miss Afridi told us about these marks on the church wall?

Which member of staff helped to plant this tree?

Our final challenge was to use our maps to get us back to school!  We really enjoyed our afternoon around Yardley.
