Throwing and Catching

In PE this week, we continued to work on our throwing and catching skills.

We started by using a beanbag.  We balanced the beanbag on our head and then let it drop off into our hands.  We found it quite easy to catch the beanbag.

Then, Mr Simmons showed us how to make our hands ready for catching.  He said it was important to keep our hands in an open position.

Liah used Mr Simmons' hands to demonstrate how the ball fits in more easily if they are open.  If the hands are closed, the ball bounces off and is difficult to catch.

We then used a tennis ball to practise different throwing and catching techniques.  We found it much more difficult with a ball than a beanbag because the balls kept rolling away!
